I am looking for staff. How much does it cost to post a job ad and/or banner ad?

I am a restaurant owner, why wouldn't I just post an ad in the local newspaper?
  • Please do, the papers have been the standard for the longest time, this is an alternative. All we ask is that before you place another newspaper Ad, call Backofthehouse.ca and ask for an estimate. Better yet, we will send you the link to the two local papers and their classified department.

    Here and Here

We are confident that after finding out the price for a small Saturday listing that you will realize that you can post with us for a week and make your job descriptions as personalized as you need them. Don't forget you are targeting the market for kitchen labour... they're all here. Why would you go anywhere else?

Do you deal with Waiters and Bartenders?
  • No. We solely deal with kitchen labour.

What is the minimum amount of time that I have to purchase?
  • 1 Week.

I have purchased my ad time, is there anyway I can make my ad really stand out?
  • No, at this point it is a first come, first serve basis. Your ad will still be their and will still be displayed through search results, it may just be on the second or third page.

All the listings are of equal importance, it's on a "first come first serve" basis.
  • All the listings are of equal importance, it's on a "first come first serve" basis.

What do you do for the community?
  • As much as we can, we are firmly committed to the food industry and the Ottawa community it helps to foster. The resource pages are free and one of the banner ads (the top left one) is free to a different charity or operation in need (Red Cross food drive, The Ottawa mission, etc).

I'm cook, why is my profile a number?
  • Honestly, to protect you from being seen; no one likes their staff looking for other jobs.

Will restaurants see who I am?
  • Yes and no. Restaurants will only be able to see your resume and personal information if you allow them. If a restaurant does a search and finds that they are looking for someone of your professional qualifications, you will receive a notification in your Account Summary. At that time you can chose to let your potential employer see your information (this means, your resume, phone number and email address, etc) so they can contact you.You may of course contact them as soon as you see their ad, keep using that search button.

Why don't you have a Backofthehouse.ca for Montreal, Toronto or Saskatoon, etc?
  • Excellent question. Do you know of someone you would like to potentially partner with us and create a local chapter?

Eventually we would like to have Backofthehouse.ca covering all the food industry needs across Canada. One city at a time. Our mandate is to keep whatever location (Ottawa, Montreal, Sunshine Cove, etc) populated with local content only... Local restaurants, staff, farms and suppliers. Each location will vary in size from a small hamlet to a large city. First Ottawa, then Canada and then the World.
